Satkosia Tiger Reserve

Satkosia Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve, located in the Indian state of Odisha. It was declared a tiger reserve in the year 2007. The tiger reserve comprises the Satkosia Gorge Wildlife Sanctuary and the adjacent Baisipalli Wildlife Sanctuary. It is spread over an area of 988.30 kilometre square. The reserve lies where the Mahanadi River passes through a 22 km long gorge in the Eastern Ghats mountains. The ideal time to visit the place is during the months of October to March.

Dominant Flora

The vegetation of the tiger reserve contains mixed deciduous forests including Sal and riverine forest.

Dominant Fauna

Mammals: leopard, indian wild dog, wild boars, striped hyena, sloth bear, leopard cat, jungle cat, Asian elephant, Spotted deer, sambar deer, barking deer, langurs, porcupines.

Birds: Different species of birds are found here.

Reptiles: Mugger Crocodile, Gharials, Indian Python and many more.

The ideal time to visit the place is during the months of October to March.
