torgya

Torgya, also called Tawang-Torgya, is a three-day festival, held in Tawang Monastery, Arunachal Pradesh. The festival is celebrated with an objecctive of protecting people from natural disasters and to ward off any kind of external aggression. The main attraction of the three-day festival is the ‘Sha-na Cham’ dance, performed by monks to showcase the Choe-Gyal Yap & Yum Tsa-Munde deity, followed by other artists performing popular dances, donning colorful costumes and masks.
