- Khambhalida Caves
: The Khambhalida Caves, also known as the Rajkot Caves, are a trio of Buddhist caves. They are in the Rajkot district of Gujarat, near the town of Gondal. P.P. Pandya, a well-known archaeologist, discovered them in 1958. The middle cave, Chaitya, is a worn-out stupa and is the most beautiful of the three. Two sentinel statues (the left a Bodhisattva stone and the right a Vajrapani stone) also keep guard on a neighboring cliff face, which looks down over a trove of Buddhist caves dating back to the 4th century AD. These caves, which date back to the 4th century AD, are thought to be the oldest in Rajkot and a remarkable architectural marvel. The Archaeology Department of Gujarat looks after the Khambhalida Caves. The caves were carved from limestone rocks.
