Phodong Hill Station

Phodong is a town, almost 38 kilometers north of the capital city of Gangtok. It is famous for the "Phodong Monastery" and the "Labrang Monastery" which is situated at a higher altitude than the Phodong Monastery. The main occupation of the people here is farming on terraced slopes, tourism has also contributed to the economy in recent years. There are several small roadside eateries at Phodong, where tourists often stop to take a tea break. The small town is also known to have a large cardamom plantations.
