Kinnersani Wildlife Sanctuary

Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary located in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana. It is spread over an area of 635.40 kilometre square and has a picturesque Kinnerasani Lake with densely forested islands. The sanctuary derived its name from the river Kinnerasani. It is the natural habitat of some exotic wild life and travellers visiting the sanctuary can easily spot the wide range of animals taking shelter in their natural homes.

Dominant Flora

The flora of the sanctuary consists of Indian licorice, Tree of Heaven, Neem Tree, Indian Olibanum, Banyan Tree, Indian Fig Tree, Garuga Tree, etc.

Dominant Fauna

Mammals: Panthers, Chinkara, Chousinghas, Sambar, Cheetal, Gaurs, Hyena, Jackals, Wild Boars, Tigers, Sloth Bear, and Black Bucks.

Birds: Jungle Fowl, Quails, Partridges, Peafowl, Nuktas, Spoonbills, Teals, and Doves.

Reptiles: Pythons, Iguanas, Vipers, Cobra and Crocodiles.

Best Time to visit

The months of June to October is considered the best time to visit the sanctuary as the area remains lush green. Another reason to visit the sanctuary during this time is that the animals can be easily spotted.

How to Reach

Nearest Train Station: The nearest railway station is Bhadrachalam which is located around 25 kms away from the wildlife sanctuary.

Nearest Airport: The nearest airport to the sanctuary is in Hyderabad.

Road Accessibility : The sanctuary is accessible by both Kothagudem and Palvancha town, located at a distance of 24 kms and 12 kms respectively.
