Repalle

Repalle is a town in the Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh. Repalletown is one of the 12 municipalities in the Bapatla district and the headquarters of RepalleMandal under the administration of the Bapatla revenue division. Repalle is situated near Krishna River in the Coastal Andhra region of the state.Repalle town is occupied with a total area of 10.97 km2. It is situated 25 km from the sea coast. Repalle is generally hot and humid during the summer season with a temperature range between 28 and 42 C on average. Winter seasons are milder in Repallewith a temperature range between 15 and 30 C on average. During the month between July and November, it rained heavly.

History of Repalle

The town was earlier known as Revupalle which is derived from two words, i.e., Revu which means the bank of the river or river, and Pallewhich means village. Later the name converted from Revupalle to Repalle.

Places to visit

  • Puligadda-Penumudi Bridge : Penumudi–Puligadda Bridge is located on the Krishna River on National Highway 214. It is located at a distance of 8 km from Rpalle town. It spans the river from Penumudi in the Guntur district to Puligadda in the Krishna district. The bridge became functional on 27thMay 2006. It was and was initiated by YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It reduces the distance between the districts by approximately 100 km. The Penumudi–Puligadda Bridge looks beautiful and magnificent during sunset and sunrise time.
  • Krishna Wild Life Sanctuary : Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary and estuary located at a distance of 43.9 km. It is one of the exceptional eco-regions in the world because as it protectsthe vast expanse of natural and intact mangrove forests. It is believed by environmental activists to be one of the last remaining estates of thick primary mangrove forests in South India. Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is home to tree species like Pongamiagladra, Calotropis gigantea, Cassia auriculata, Casuarina equisetifolia, Thespesia populnea, Spinifex squarrosus, Ipomoea Biloba, Spinifex littoreus, Prosopis juliflora, Pongamia pinnate, banyan, peepul, margosa, tumma, mango, palmyra.Fishing cats were found between November 2013 and August 2014 at different locations outside Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary.The sanctuary is an abode to reptiles including the garden lizard, wall lizard, and tortoise. It is a perfect place to visit to witness a variety of flora and fauna.
