Shopian district is situated in Jammu and Kashmir .

In March 2007, the district was formed .

Shopian district comes under the Pir Panjal Range which makes it very cold in winter. This district was previously known as ‘Sheen-e-van’ which means ‘forest of snow’ .

This district is called "the apple bowl of Kashmir" .
