Gudhi Padwa is a festival, celebrated in and around Maharashtra, Goa, and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu to mark the beginning of the new year according to the lunisolar method of the Hindu calendar. It is a spring festival that is marked with colourful floor decorations called rangoli, a special Gudhi dvaja, street processions, dancing, and festive foods.
