Natyanjali is an annual dance festival, originated around 1981, currently organized by the Department of Tourism of Tamil Nadu and the Natyanjali Trust. The dance festival lasts for 13 days. Dancers, from all over India, come to attend the festival and perform to pay their tribute to Lord Nataraja. It begins on the occasion of MahaShivarathiri, where, Dance teachers and Gurus of all styles offer their chosen art form at the feet of Lord Nataraja.
