About the Museum

In the proximity of Bhopal Junction, the Regional Science Centre located in Shymala Hills is one of the fascinating and most important places to visit in Bhopal and especially if you have children traveling with you. Inaugurated in 1995 by then Indian President late Shankar Dayal Sharma, this Centre comes under the list of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) dedicated to popularizing science and Technology amongst the masses and particularly students, through a diverse range of activities and fun sessions.

There are a total of 266 science exhibits in this museum and several different halls and galleries to demonstrate different forms and functions of energy. The Hall of Energy in the Centre enlightens the visitors about the different forms of energy, numerous exhibits which highlight the significance of renewable and non-renewable resources, and the Atmosphere Gallery or the Umbrella Gallery highpoints the significance of atmosphere. Apart from the indoor galleries, the museum also has an open-air Science Park spreading on over 3 acres of lush green land, that displays over 60 exhibitions such as pulley demonstration, a windmill, a solar-powered device, etc., that you can learn about and experiment at the same time.

The Science Centre also houses a miniature planetarium with a seating capacity of 25 people. Visitors can enjoy a short 30-minute video or a show and learn about the stars, constellations, and zodiacs of the night sky. Another 50-seater hall is for the 3-D science show where there is also a telescope to glimpse the movement of planets and moons. Not only this, but the campus of the Science Centre also has a zoo and a Dinosaur Park for the kids. A truly exciting place for both adults and children, the Science Centre is an informative and yet fascinating place to spend time with your family or friends.
