About the Museum

Experience the childhood of one of the greatest and most beloved freedom fighters of India, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, in his childhood home which is now known as Netaji Birth Place Museum. Situated in Oriya Bazaar in the city of Cuttack, Odisha, Netaji Birth Place Museum is an ancestral property of our Braveheart Netaji Bose and is visited by many travelers and locals who admire his personality and want to gain insight into his life.

The house is named Janakinath Bhawan in which there are traces of childhood spent by Netaji Bose to the days as a freedom fighter. The beautiful homely museum has a wide-ranging collection of antiques, books, documents, articles, and other possessions of Netaji which have been accumulated from several sources. Apart from the belongings, the museum also has 22 handwritten letters by Netaji Bose to his family, friends, and other leaders of that time while he was in jail along with his INA uniform which is hung proudly to display.

The museum, soaked in rich history and beautiful architectural design, sits one-third of an acre of land and the rest is surrounded by the lush green garden. Among the exhibits, a horse cart is also placed which belonged to his family and was also used by other leaders of the freedom fighting movement. Certainly, one of the most fascinating places to visit in Cuttack, the museum also houses a library which comprises a vast collection of books written by Netaji Bose in distinct languages and over 500 books that reflect on Netaji’s life.
