Ahaldara is a hilltop, famous for its breathtaking view of sunrise and snow-capped Kanchenjunga peaks, situated 5 kms away from Latpanchar. On a clear sunny day the Algara, Kalimpong, Gangtok, Bagora, Tinchuley hills can be seen from Ahaldara. Ahaldara is located in Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a paradise for bird watcher's. The Wildlife Sanctuary houses 36 mammals and more than 240 species of birds. The most sought after being the endangered Rufous-necked Hornbill can also be spotted here. Ahaldara can be visited anytime throughout the year, except monsoon. The hill station can be reached by rail and by air. The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri, located about 45 km away and nearest airport is Bagdogra which is around 55 km away.
