About the Museum

Established on 4th February 2006, the Sun Ray Solar Museum, located in the Hubli-Dharwad district of Karnataka, is an innovative and first of its kind museum in the world that displays the growth and advancement of renewable energy systems over the centuries and the numerous facets of the sun and its energy to human society. The Sun Rau Solar Museum is the right place for people seeking insight into renewable energy resources and the best way to utilize them.

The museum is not only a museum or tourist place but a live specimen of how the natural resource sunlight can be exploited by the human race for several benefits without any cost. It showcases the appliances that are used by people which utilize the energy from the sun through panels and can be used in day-to-day lives for generating electricity. The museum not only displays an array of renewable energy systems available around the world, but has also developed its own advanced solar water heater, solar cool cap, radios, sprayers, dryers, cooking systems, and new pumping systems all driven by solar energy.

The museum has most of the renewable energy systems of distinct make from different countries such as solar cookers, PV panels, pumps, lanterns, torches, defense kits, mobile chargers, solar distillation, indoor and outdoor luminaires, charge regulators, solar fencing system, wind energy system, Gober gas, wave energy system, etc. The museum also conducts live demonstrations, seminars, and workshops for students, teachers, and researchers to impart knowledge and promote the use of renewable resources like sunlight to save conventional energy resources like petrol, diesel, and coal for as long as we can.
