About the Museum

One of the most visited and fascinating museums in the city of Nizams Hyderabad is the Railway Museum located at the Kachiguda station. Established to showcase the beginning and advancement of the railways, the Railway Museum witnesses a horde of visitors throughout the year and enamors them with an extensive range of exhibits and models.

The Railway Museum in Hyderabad displays an impressive collection of photographs of the rail network taking visitors back to the Nizam’s rule, the inauguration of the Kachiguda station, and articles of the ancient era that includes signaling paraphernalia, prototypes of locomotives and coaches, tickets, and working models. One of the highpoints of the museum is the air-conditioned lounge room where audio-visuals about the history and development of railways and otherfacets including security, safety, bridges, etc., are shown.

The museum also houses two air-conditioned meter gauge coaches that were used to run ‘’Heritage on Wheels’’ trains in Rajasthan which grabs he attention of the travelers in the station. The atmosphere of the museum is tranquil with well-designed canopy-styled seating amidst greenery. The coaches kept outside the museum are under work to be operated as a dine-in restaurant in the near future. Kachiguda was finalized as the location for the museum because of its legacy value in the city and is administered by the Divisional Railway Manager of Hyderabad.
