About the Museum

Situated at the heart of the beautiful pink city Jaipur, the Dolls Museum is located inside the premises of the Albert Museum and is a fascinating place for not only kids but for adults as well. An ideal place to have a glimpse and to savor the exceptional taste of varied cultures of the world, the Dolls Museum in Jaipur displays a wide-ranging collection of dolls and toys which exhibit various genres and styles from different societies of the world.

Not only the Rajasthani or regional dolls but the museum displays a diverse collection of figures from different spheres of the world which are exhibited in five distinct galleries. The dolls in the museum have been gathered from various parts of the country as well as the world to be showcased in this beautiful place. The dolls belonging to Indian culture have been decorated in different Indian attires such as bridal wear, dance costumes from different states, tribal wear, and everyday outfits which represent the cultural exuberance of India. From the other parts of the world, there is a beautiful collection of dolls reflecting Japanese culture that have been made from wood, whale teeth, and paper. This collection includes Kokeshi dolls, Tanabata dolls, Kamakura dolls, Namahage dolls, and Kanto Matsuri dolls. The museum also showcases dolls from other countries such as Mexico, Norway, Mongolia, Uganda, Turkey, Italy, Peru, Afghanistan, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, etc.

Besides dolls, the museum also displays a small collection of cartoons characters and superheroes for the entertainment of children. An English Puppet Gallery is a new addition to the museum which exhibits dolls that are only two inches tall in size. Established in the 20th century to spread awareness about the varied culture and traditions of the world, the Dolls Museum in Jaipur is an ideal spot to spend time with your friends and family while also gaining an insight into the vivacity of the world.
