  • Upperkot Fort : Upperkot is the upper citadel of Junagadh, located to the east. There was a 300-foot-deep moat inside the fortifications, which reputedly used to be inhabited by crocodiles for the fort's security, and it was over 2300 years old, with walls up to 20 meters high in certain areas.   • Gir National Park: Asiatic Lions can only be found in Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is located in Talala Gir, Gujarat, and is part of the Kathiawar-Gir dry deciduous forests ecoregion. Gir National Park is closed from June 16 to October 15 each year, and the best months for wildlife viewing are April and May. Gir offers you the one-of-a-kind experience of seeing a location that plays a critical and defining role in the preservation and sustainability of a specific species. The Nawab of Junagadh initiated the preservation of these lions when they were on the verge of extinction owing to hunting. According to the official count, there were 411 lions in 2010. There are also over 2375 species of fauna here, including 38 species of mammals, over 300 species of birds, 37 species of reptiles, and over 2000 kinds of insects. The leopard, chausingha, spotted deer, hyena, sambar deer, and chinkara are among the other prominent animal species found here.

How to Reach

  • By Air - Rajkot, which is 100 kilometers distant, is the nearest airport to Junagadh. A lot of aircraft arrive and depart from here, linking the city to other parts of Gujarat as well as the rest of the country.
  • By Train - Junagadh is part of the Indian Railways' Western Railway network. A variety of trains connect the city to the rest of the country. There are numerous express and local trains that run on a regular basis and are ideal for commuting from Rajkot to Junagadh.
