Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Rajsamand District of Rajasthan. The sanctuary surrounds the Kumbhalgarh fortress and covers an area of 610.528 kilometre square. It derived its name after the impressive historic fort of Kumbhalgarh. The sanctuary is known for being the home to a variety of animals including some endangered species. It can be explored either by jeep safari, trekking or by riding a horse.

The flora of the sanctuary consisis many trees and plants having herbal qualities.

Dominant Fauna

Mammals: Wolf, Leopards, Sloth bear, Hyena, jackal, Jungle cat, Sambhar, Nilgai, Chausingha, Chinkara and Hare

Birds: Red Spur Owls, Parakeets, Golden Oriole, Bulbul, Dove, Grey Pigeons and White Breasted Kingfisher.

Best time to visit

The ideal time to visit Kumbhalgarh wildlife sanctuary is during monsoon. During this time, the sanctuary gleams with greenery and offers exciting jungle safaris and horseback tours to travellers.

Nearest Airport: Udaipur Airport is the nearest airport, located at a distance of 83 km from the sanctuary.

Road Accessibility : Bus can be taken from Sadri bus stop, located at a distance of 81 km, buses from Udaipur are also available to reach Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary.
