Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary

Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary, situated in South Tripura District of Tripura, India. The sanctuary occupies an area of 163 square kilometers and contains a number of perennial water rivulets, water bodies and grass land. It was founded in the year 1988. The sanctuary is 111 kms away from Agartala. Several varieties of birds and mammals are spotted here.

Dominant Flora

The flora of the sanctuary consists of four types of forest – the tropical semi-evergreen forest, the east Himalayan lower Bhanar Sal, Moist mixed deciduous forest and the Savanah woodland.

Dominant Fauna

Mammals: Indian Gaur, Deer, Hooklock Gibbon, Golden langur, Pheasants, Lalmukh Bandar, Wild Boar, Wild Cat, Leopard, etc.

Birds: Different species of resident and migratory birds are found here.

Reptiles: Crocodile, Monitor Lizard and Cobra.

CLIMATIC CONDITIONS

The temperature of the sanctuary ranges from 25°C and 34°C all year round. During Winter season, the temperature falls between 20 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.

Nearest Train Station: Nearest Railway Station to the sanctuary is Garjee.

Nearest Airport: The nearest airport is Maharaja Bir Bikram kishore Manikya Airport, located in Agartala city.

Road Accessibility : Agartala is the nearest city, located 100 km away. From there, a private taxi can be hired.
