Prakasam, formerly called the Ongole district, is a district in the Coastal Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed in 1970.
rakasam was named after the first Chief Minister of Andhra State Tanguturi Prakasam.
The district was carved out of Guntur, Nellore and Kurnool districts of Andhra Pradesh.
