The beach is the longest in India and stretches up to 7km in length and is located on the shoreline of the Bay of Bengal.

• By Air: Though Puri doesn’t have any airport, the nearest airport is the Bhubaneshwar airport which is 53km away and connects the state of Orissa to other states of India. You can take a direct cab to Puri which will take approx. 2hours or less or you can also take local buses to Puri which you will have no problem to find.
• By Rail: Puri has a railway junction which connects the city to other cities of India as well. Trains such as Kolkata Puri Howrah Express, Jagannath Express, and New Delhi Purushottam Express will take you directly to the city. From the station take a cab or local bus to reach the beach.
• By Road: The main bus terminal is connected to different cities and towns in Orissa through well-constructed roads. Hail a cab, taxi, or ride on a bus to reach the beach at Puri.

The ideal time to visit the beach is between October to February when there is neither too much humidity nor it is very hot to create any hurdles in your outdoor plans. The winter months December to February are a bit cold, but not too harsh to visit the beach and witness other magnificent structures in Puri.

Avoid the monsoons as it gets heavy rainfall during June to August and it is risky to visit the beach during this time. Although, if you wish to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath, then visit the city in the months of June and July.
