Renigunta

Renigunta is a town located in the Tirupati District of Andhra Pradesh. Renigunta is a neighborhood and suburb of Tirupati. Renigunta is a part of the Tirupati urban area. It is the Mandal headquarters of Renigunta Mandal in Tirupati district and falls within the jurisdictional limit of the Tirupati Urban Development Authority.

Places to visit

  • Padmavathi Ammavari Temple : Padmavathi Ammavari Temple is situated at a distance of 9 km from Renigunta town. The temple is devoted to Goddess Padmavathi or Alamelumanga, the companion of Lord Venkateswara. Padmavathi is the main almighty of the temple and is facing east. Padmavathi is the epitome of the goddess Lakshmi. The Temple is always crowded with devotees. Near the temple, there is a Temple Tank called Padmasarovaram, on the last day of the Annual Padmavathi Brahmotsavams (Panchami Teertham) lakhs of devotees visit the temple and performs Chakra Snanam (bath) in this sacred temple tank Padmasarovaram. Legends believed that the Goddess Lakshmi was born as Alamelu to Akasha Raja, the ruler of this region, and wed Venkateshwara of Tirupati.
  • Sri Venkateswara National Park : Sri Venkateswara National Park is a national park and biosphere reserve situated 20 km from Renigunta town in Tirupati. The park is popular for its waterfalls, namely theGundalakona,Gunjana, andTalakona. Around 178 species of birds are found in this National Park which includesthe globally threatened yellow-throated bulbul, grey-fronted green pigeon, a bird of the Himalayas and the Western Ghats is quite common in these forests. An endangered Oriental white-backed vulture is found in the national park. The Park is home to predators like Leopards, wild dogs, golden jackals, and Indian foxes are also found in this Sri Venkateswara National Park.
  • Deer Park: Deer Park is located at a distance of 37 km from Renigunta town. The park is famous for being the abode ofa large number of animals, especially Deer.The park is also known for having different species of birds. Deer Park is also popular for having scenic landscapes. The park is easily reachable from different modes and also falls on the way to Tirupati. Currently, DeerPark is controlled and managed by the Tirupati Devasthanam authorities. The visiting hours for Deer Park are morning 10:00 a.m. to Evening 5:00 p.m. It is the perfect park to visit with family and friends.
