The spot was also called 'Samseparvata' historically since it was reached from Samse village. The Kudremukh Trek starts by exploring a thick forest that is also home to many leeches and earthworms. Trek to Kudremukh mountain in Karnataka is a moderate trek and can be done by a beginner also who has a basic knowledge of trekking. Although one must be very careful while crossing the forest section as it is a slippery path.

The KudremukhTrek journey starts in the morning after having breakfast which you can get easily in the nearby restaurants. During the descent trek, after a 15 km distance,one can find restaurants thatserve delicious south Indian food from where you can have lunch. Kudremukh Trek Itinerary

Day 1-

  • Reach Kudremukh National Park at 5:30 a.m.
  • After having breakfast, start trekking to the Kudremukh summit
  • Around 12:30 p.m. reach the Kudremukh summit
  • After having a packed Lunch, explore beautiful grasslands and spectacular landscapes from the Kudremukh Summitand start the descent trek at around 1:00 p.m.
  • Reach the camp at 5:00 p.m.
  • Have dinner in the camp and enjoy the Campfire

Day 2-

  • After breakfast head toward Somavati Waterfalls
  • Explore the cascading Somavati Waterfalls and neighboring market area
  • At 11:00 a.m. start heading back to Bangalore.

Best Time to do Kudremukh Trek

Kudremukh Trek can be accessible throughout the year although the best time to explore KudremukhTrek is during the monsoon and winter season in the months of June to February. During these seasons one can see several cascading small streams, dark montane Shola Forest, tall bamboo shrubs,and lush green valleys.The summers in this area hold a very hot and humid climate hence it is not recommended to travel in summer.
