About the Museum
Dedicated to the great architect of contemporary Karnataka and the Bharat Ratna awardee M. Visvesvaraya, the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum houses several technical inventions in the past and gives you an insight into the developments and technological advances in the country. Located in the heart of the I.T. city Bangalore, this museum has everything to answer questions of your curious mind and to nurture that sed of technology and science. The museum might look small and compact from the outside, but it is built in a space of 4000 sq. meters and is also a perfect destination for kids.
Established in 1962, the museum comprises four floors with seven permanent exhibition halls and three separate halls for certain occasions. Every hall houses an amazing and impressive collection of the informative touch-and-feel exhibit which attracts a plethora of visitors every day. Engine Hall – How Things Work: If you have a keen interest in automobiles and their parts, then the Engine Hall is a must-visit exhibition for you. It offers insight into the functioning of automobiles and you can learn about the different parts such as pulleys, inclined planes, levers, and much more.
Electrotechnics Gallery: If you are an aspiring electrical engineer and enjoy topics about electrical technology, then this gallery is for you. The gallery also exhibits demo experiments on Barlow’s Wheel, Oersted’s Principles, and Faraday’s Ring.
Space Emerging Technology in the Service Mankind: Are you a space enthusiast and want to know about flight mechanics, rockets, space astronomy, and other related things? This gallery will provide you with all the answers and quench your curiosity and you will also learn about the advances made by humankind in space. It is a one-of-a-kind space technology gallery in India supported by ISRO.
Biotechnological Revolution: In this gallery, several research studies, features, and results of biotechnology are showcased along with different segments of cells, genetics, bio quizzes, and milestones in biotechnology in India.
Fun Science Gallery: This one is definitely for the children. The gallery contains interesting games and puzzles based on mathematics, fluid mechanics, sound, atmospheric science, and other academic topics that will not bore your children yet are very informative.
Science for Children: Another one for kids and school-going children, this gallery contains several exhibits on building blocks, electricity, trains, sounds in nature, and more. Hence, a perfect place for children to learn about science while also enjoying the process.
BEL Hall of Electronics: This hall consists of captivating exhibits about digital electronics, computer science, simulated environment, and communication.

Dinosaur Alive: This is a special exhibit and one of the most visited in the museum. Gawk at the real-looking computer-generated dinosaurs and feel the goosebumps on your arms by the sounds made by Spinosaurus dinosaurs and click snaps with it.
Science on a Sphere: This gallery displays vibrant, animated images of oceans, the atmosphere, and the planets. There are also short videos and shows on solar systems, tsunami, earthquakes, and much more.
Wright Brothers’ Airplane: Witness a 1:1 full-scale replica of Wright Brothers’ Airplane model – Wright Flyer 1 and a flyer simulator that you can experience.
Apart from the different galleries and activities in the museum, you can also spend your day by enjoying shows and short videos such as Taramandal Show, Science Demonstration Lectures and Film Shows, Sky Observing Program, Commemorative Program, and 3-D Shows.
