The clothes sold in the shops in this market from traditional attire (such as saris and salwar kameez) for women and Kurtas for men and Kurtis (ethnic tunics) for women, to western and bohemian style outfits (like T-shirts, shorts, jeans, tops, skirts, dresses and so on).

Lajpat Nagar is well connected by Delhi Transport Corporation’s buses and the Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System (Delhi metro). These modes of transport make it easy for visitors to travel anywhere easily within the city of Delhi.

The Lajpat Nagar Station of the Delhi Metro  lies on the system’s Violet Line and Pink Line (which is underground), and visitors can take the trains passing through these, and from here, walk to Lajpat Nagar market within minutes.

The Lajpat Nagar Central Market is open to shoppers from Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 9 PM, and it is closed on all Mondays.

History

Lajpat Nagar area in Delhi was developed in the 1950s, with many Sikh and Hindu people moving here from the then-newly-formed Pakistan, after the partition of India in 1947 (post-independence from the British).The market here was established and developed in the subsequent years.
