About the Museum

Constructed as a mausoleum to pay respect to Dr. Zakir Hussain, the third President of India, Zakir Hussain Museum in New Delhi has become one of the attractive tourist destinations for visitors who want to know more about the impact this intellectual person had in the nation. Established in 1972, the museum houses a wide array of objects that were used by the late Dr. Hussain himself along with some fascinating geological specimens displayed here.

The Zakir Hussain Museum is situated on the premises of Zamia Millia Islamia University which was established under the direction of Dr. Zakir Hussain. The Museum showcases an assortment of memorabilia, mementos, and numerous pictures which offer a glimpse into the life of Dr. Hussain. These personal belongings and objects are the representation of the feat of Dr. Zakir Hussain as the President of India. On a visit to this museum, visitors will also find the Bharat Ratna award presented to the late Dr. Zakir Hussain. This is one of the most esteemed awards of India bestowed only to the notable personalities of India, of which Dr. Zakir Hussain is the one.
