Located on the same plot which formerly belonged to the revolutionary activist Raja Ram Mohan Roy, the founder of the Brahma Samaj and the forerunner for the abolition of the Sati Pratha from India, the Kolkata Police Museum was established here in 1996 paying honor to the Kolkata Police. Spread in an area of 2000 acres of land in one of the personal mansions of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, the museum has old-style wooden staircases with Corinthian pillars that give off the colonial architectural vibes. The plot is enclosed with beautifully manicured gardens and trees and also resides the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North in one of the mansions.
