Narasannapeta is a town in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. It is the Mandal headquarters of Narasannapeta Mandal in Srikakulam’s revenue division. Occupied with a total area of 5.18 km2, Narasannapeta is a census town. There are 43 villages under the administrative division of Narasannapeta. The town has an average elevation of 18 m (59 ft). According to the report of Census India 2011, Narasannapeta Town has a population of 26,280 of which 13,390 are females whereas 12,890 are males, as per a report. The population of Children in age group 0-6 is 2663 which is 10.13% of the total population of Narasannapeta. In Narasannapeta Census Town, the Female Sex Ratio is 1039 against the state average of 993. However,the Child Sex Ratio in Narasannapeta is around 937 compared to the Andhra Pradesh state average of 939. The literacy rate of Narasannapeta city is 79.05% higher than the state average of 67.02%. In Narasannapeta, Male literacy is around 85.86% while the female literacy rate is 72.57%.

  • Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple : Situated in the Arasavalli village,Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple,is devoted to the Sun God. It is the second Temple in the country which is devoted to the Sun God, the other Temple is the popular Konark Temple of Odisha. As per the Padmapuranam (one of the eight major Puranas), Guru Kasyapa established the figure of Lord Surya at the Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple for the prosperity of mankind. Hence, the Surya figure is of Kasyapasa Gotra. As per the SthalaPurana of the Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple, it was Lord Davendra, who installed the figure of Lord Surya ordinarily known as Lord Surya Narayana Swamy Varu.
  • Kalingapatnam Beach : Kalingapatnam Beach is located on the coast of Kalingapatnam Village of Srikakulam district. The beach is situated at a distance of 27 km from Narasannapeta Town. Kalingapatnam Beachis a calm and picturesque beach and is one of the biggest attractions in Narasannapeta. The tides of this beach are mainly high and a branch of the Vamsadhara River joins the sea.Kalingapatnam Beach has been acknowledged by the State Government, with the state tourism board APTDC (Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation) commercializing it as a tourist destination.
  • Kalingapatnam LightHouse : A 31m high Hexagonal Masonry LighthouseTower, Kalingapatnam Light House is situated near Kalingpatnam Beach. Painted in red and white, this lighthouse is located near Thansahebpeta village. Known as the Capital of the Gang Dynasty ruled the region, Kalingapatnam, spread over the entire coastal belt from Godavari to Ganges (Hooghly) fromthe 8th century to the 15thcentury. The beautiful Kalingapatnam Light House, near Kalingapatnam Beach, looks magnificent during the Sunset and Sunrise time.
