Narasaraopet

Narasaraopet is a city locatedin the Palnadu District of Andhra Pradesh. The town is a municipality and Mandal headquarters of Narasaraopet Mandal and Headquarters of Narasaraopet revenue division. Narasaraopet is also called the ‘Gateway of Palnadu’. Narasaraopet is the seat of the court of Additional District Judges. Narasaraopet enacts as a melting point for the Palnadu and Delta regions of the district.It is the major commercial trading center in the Guntur district. Earlier the name of the village was Atluru. The name Narsaraopet derived from the name of RajaMalraju Narasa Rao, the local Zamindar of the area and who owned much of the surrounding areas.

  • Kotappakonda : Kotappakonda is a sacred hill situated in the Palnadu District. The hill is situated at a distance of 19 km from Narasaraopet City.Every Year on the occasion of Mahashivaratria grand celebration is organized in this Temple, called Tirunallu. It is one of the Biggest Tirunallu in India. A lot of devotees and tourists visit this place for performing prayers and also to enjoy the beautiful view from this place.Kotappakonda hill is a combination of three peaks, hence it is also called Trikutadri, Trikuta Parvatham. These three hills are called Vishnu hill,Brahma hill, and Rudra hill. The main temple Trikoteswara Swamy Temple is located in the place called BrahmaShikharam. Old Kotayya temple is located at Rudra Shikharam. This is the first place where Trikoteswara Swamy existed, noticing the great devotion of Devotee Gollabhama, Trikoteswara Swamy came to Brahma Shikharam. Hence it is called the old Kotayya Temple.Another temple situated on this sacred hill is Lord Paapanaseswara Temple. The place where this temple is located is called Vishnu Shikharam.
  • Kapoteswara Alayam : Kapoteswara Alayam is situated at a distance of 27 km from Narasaraopet. It is also called Chejarla Sri Kapoteswara Swamy Temple as it is located in the Chejarla village. Kapoteswara Alayam is the only temple in India that is devoted to Lord Shiva as Kapoteswara(Kapotheswara) in Lingakara. According to the inscription, Kapoteswara Alayam was built in the 4th and 5th century AD. Through the historical records found here, it is confirmed thatthe place was once a great Buddhist Monastery thatwas later converted intoa Hindu temple.
  • Phirangipuram Church : It is famous for its beautiful architecture. Including the locals, other people from neighboring places like Vijayawada, Tirupathi, Hyderabad, Vizag, Karimnagar, Nellore, Srisailam, Warangal also visit the church,
