Nagarjunsagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve is the largest tiger reserve in India, which spreads over five districts, Kurnool District, Prakasam District, Guntur District, Nalgonda District and Mahabub Nagar district. It is located inside Nallamala forest area and houses some of the major attractions that are very popular among tourists. It lies at an altitude ranging from 330 feet to 3009 feet above mean sea level, covering an area of 3728 kilometres square. The reserve not only contains a rich diversity of flora and fauna but also ancient temples and several waterfalls such as the Ethipothala Falls, Pedda Dukudu, Gundam and Chaleswaram. The ideal time to visit the place is during the months of October to June.
The vegetation of the tiger reserve consists of Southern Tropical Dry Mixed Deciduous Forest, Hardwickia Forest and Deccan Thorn Scrub Forests with much Euphorbia Scrub. Some important plant species which are also found here are Anogeissus Latifolia, Cleisthanthus Collinus, Terminalia Spp., Pterocarpus Marsupium, Hardwickia Binata and many more.
Mammals : Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, sloth bear, Ussuri dhole, Indian pangolin, chital, sambar deer, chevrotain, blackbuck, chinkara, chowsingha.
Birds : Bar-headed Goose, Ruddy Shelduck, Red-crested Pochard, Common Pochard, Ferruginous Duck, Tufted Duck, Garganey, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon and many more.
Reptiles : mugger crocodile, Indian python, Indian cobra, rat snake, Bengal monitor, Ashwamedh writhing skink, Sharma's mabuya lizards, Nagarjun Sagar racer snake.
The ideal time to visit the place is during the months of October to June.
