sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve

Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve, located in the Eastern Ghats in the Erode District of Tamil Nadu. It is spread over an area of 1408.405 kilometre square. It is the third largest tiger reserve in Tamil Nadu and is also the Gateway to Eastern Ghats. The reserve is opened on all days of the week and can be visited during 8 am to 5 pm. The entry fee for the reserve is Rs 250. Tourists visiting the tiger reserve have the option to choose jungle safari to witness the amazing landscape and species diversity of the reserve. The ideal time to visit the place is during the months of October to January.

Dominant Flora

The vegetation of the tiger reserve consists of five distinct forest types: tropical evergreen, semi-evergreen, mixed-deciduous, dry deciduous and thorn forests.

Dominant Fauna

Mammals: Bengal tiger, Indian elephants, gaurs, leopards, horned antelope, spotted deer, blackbucks, sambar deer, barking deer, four-horned antelopes, wild boars, sloth bears.

Birds: treepies, bulbuls, babblers, mynahs, crows, Indian vulture.

Reptiles: Monitor Lizard, Snake, Rock Lizard, Chameleon and many more.

The ideal time to visit the place is during the months of October to January.
