Located at 2730 meters in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, Sonamarg is a beautiful hill station that literally translates to ‘the meadow of gold’. Sonamarg is a good camping site during the summer months from April to October, but monsoons are usually avoided due to heavy rain and dangerous roads during that time. Winters are quite rough as the hill station receives heavy snowfall and thus many roads get blocked due to it and camping becomes tough.
