Sonamarg is a good camping site during the summer months from April to October, but monsoons are usually avoided due to heavy rain and dangerous roads during that time. Winters are quite rough as the hill station receives heavy snowfall and thus many roads get blocked due to it and camping becomes tough.
Sonamarg is a year-round destination but April to June is the best time to visit this town. The weather remains pleasant with lots of blooming flowers and greenery.
If you just want to visit the town, then 1 day is enough for exploring Sonamarg. However, if you would like to explore the valley and lakes, then you will need a few days to trek to all the places.
There are not many shopping outlets in Sonamarg and the options are limited. However, you can get some walnuts, saffron, stone jewelry, and embroidered clothes from here.
