India has a dream coastline and much of the country is surrounded by ocean. This primarily includes: The Bay of Bengal on the east coast, the Arabian sea on the west coast and the Indian Ocean in the south. Due to this, India has a diverse collection of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The west coast has some very popular beaches most of which are located in Goa, which is a famous beach destination. These are filled with tourists all year long and have a party vibe filled with fun and frolic. Other beaches on the west coast are situated in the states of Maharashtra (Mumbai), Gujarat, and Karnataka and Kerala, where Mumbai, Daman & Diu, Kochi, etc are some commonly loved beach destinations.
The east coast has a stretch of many amazing and serene beaches in coastal cities and towns that include Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and many other places in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Chennai is known as the beach town of India as it exhibits the true beauty of the Bay of Bengal especially on the popular Marina beach. The other popular beach destinations on this coast include Mahabalipuram, Tranquebar, Kovalam, Poompuhar and Kanyakumari. Kanyakumari is located at the southern tip of the country, where there is an amalgamation of the three oceans. A beautiful image of this confluence of the Arabian sea, the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean can be seen from Kanyakumari Beach.
The beaches in India are incredibly scenic and fall under various categories ranging from serene to fun. Bright sun, pleasant breeze, clear skies, and gushing waves and occasional vendors selling snacks on the sands give blissful feel which make these beaches a great place for a trip with friends, family or even alone!
